Kayak co-founders take on Calendly on the new SuperCal scheduling platform

Kayak co-founder Paul English is back in his new venture. This time, he is taking on the calendar. The entrepreneur has launched SuperCal, a free scheduling platform designed to make booking meetings more efficient and simple.

SuperCal was born from my personal experience in English with regard to meeting booking assignments. As a member of eight boards, English says he and others often struggled to coordinate their schedules. He then challenged Calendly by creating an email system for booking group meetings and building a similar tool that provided similar functionality, but for free.

“Instead of having a limited version of Calendly or paid versions that cost $12 a month, people get all those features for free on SuperCal,” English told TechCrunch in an interview.

SuperCal’s group scheduling feature allows you to send emails to groups of people, and CC The Service’s AI can read everyone’s calendar, find time that suits everyone, book meetings, and reply to email threads with details.

With SuperCal, you can sync up to six calendars, allowing you to keep your work, individuals and other schedules in one place. It offers eight different meeting types, including 15-minute, 30-minute and 60-minute slots, as well as VIP meeting types that allow you to fully access the calendar in critical situations.

There are also breakfast, lunch, coffee and dinner meetings. In the future, these meeting types will feature open table integrations that allow you to book meetings at restaurants and coffee shops, English says.

SuperCal includes additional features such as pre-meeting context forms, automatic guest timezone detection, reminders, and pre-built templates.

SuperCal is free to use, but the English and the team will expand their services with premium features that users can unlock with subscriptions, while keeping current features free.

“One of the things we really are interested in in the long run is not only helping us set up a meeting, but also helping us to make sure that the meeting is really impactful,” English said.

For example, if you set up a transcription service for a meeting, SuperCal can provide feedback on how the meeting progressed. This can include insights like 150 words per minute too fast, too low volume, or too many filler words. The goal behind this is to help coach users become more effective speakers in meetings.

Furthermore, in English, we believe that SuperCal can ultimately help users reduce meetings and make them more impactful.

He says in the future Superchar can make meetings more efficient, such as providing feedback on action items and whether decisions have been made. Furthermore, we can identify meetings with low participation and little progress, suggesting that they may no longer be necessary.

SuperCal is available online. The company says it will be exploring browsers and email plugins in future, as well as iOS and Android apps.
