Bill Clinton told lawmakers there was “nothing that gave me pause” when he spent time with Jeffrey Epstein, as he testified privately about his relationship with the actor.
In a prepared statement Friday, Clinton told the House Oversight Committee that she would not have boarded the late financier’s flight had she known about the alleged sex trafficking of underage girls, and that she would have called the police if she had known.

“We’re here because he hid it well from everyone for so long,” Clinton said.
Clinton flew on Epstein’s plane several times in the early 2000s, after he left office and before he was convicted of pimping a minor in 2008. A set of documents released by the Justice Department includes photos of Clinton and the woman, with their faces redacted.
“I didn’t see anything and I didn’t do anything wrong,” Clinton said.
The former president is giving a deposition before the House Oversight Committee, a day after his wife, Hillary Clinton, testified before the committee. The event is being held near the Clintons’ home in Westchester County, New York.
The committee’s Republican chairman, Rep. James Comer of Kentucky, said he would question the former president about the photos released by the Justice Department. The committee will also question Ms. Clinton about Mr. Epstein’s involvement in the couple’s charitable foundation.
Comer said Hillary Clinton’s video testimony could be released as early as Friday. He has repeatedly said the Clintons have not been accused of wrongdoing.
Democrats seek testimony from Trump
The Clintons agreed to testify despite the House threatening to hold them in contempt of Congress and potentially lead to criminal charges for their refusal to cooperate.
The Clintons accused Republicans of conducting a partisan exercise aimed at shielding President Donald Trump from scrutiny, and noted that participants in the investigation were allowed to submit written statements rather than testifying in person.
Democrats also asked the committee to subpoena Trump, whose name appears in the Epstein documents, and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, who authorized Epstein to visit his private island.
Trump has said he interacted extensively with Epstein in the 1990s and 2000s but severed ties before Epstein’s conviction in 2008.
Democrats also accused the Trump administration’s Justice Department of withholding records related to women who say the president sexually abused them when they were minors. The ministry said it was reviewing the documents and would release them if deemed appropriate.
President Trump said in a speech Friday that he was not satisfied with former President Bill Clinton’s deposition in the House investigation into Epstein.
“I like Bill Clinton, but I don’t like to see him step down,” Trump told reporters as he left the White House for Corpus Christi, Texas.
