PepsiCo On Monday, it announced that it will launch a prebiotic cola under the soda brand of that name starting this fall.
Pepsi Pre Bitic Cola comes just four months after Beverage Giant announced its $1.95 billion acquisition of Upstart Poppi. Soda consumption has declined significantly in the US over the past 20 years, but prebiotic soda, fueled by Poppi and fellow newcomer Olipop, has won over the past five years on bills that have fuelled health-conscious consumers. The acquisition ended in May.
Before the deal, it was reported that Pepsi was aiming to launch its own functional soda under the SoulBoost brand, but cancelled those plans.
With the demand for its drinks domestically, Pepsi is leaning towards health trends such as protein and fiber insanity to attract customers. In the second quarter, the company’s North American beverage volume reduced by 2%. The soda with that name was one of the few bright spots that helped PepsiZero Sugar succeed.
Consumers will be able to purchase Pepsi Prebiotic Cola online at retailers starting next year, starting fall. The new drink contains 3 grams of prebiotic fiber. It’s 1 gram more than Poppi’s soda, but about a third of the fiber content of Olipop.
The new Pepsi drink also contains 5 grams of cane sugar. In the US, classic Pepsi is sweetened with corn syrup.
Artificial sweeteners and high fructose corn syrup were fired from the Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and his “American Health” agenda. President Donald Trump, a longtime fan of Aspartame sweetened diet cola, said in a social media post on Wednesday. coca cola I agreed to bring “real cane sugar” back to the US to soda with a name that contains corn syrup. The company has not confirmed the announcement.
Coke introduced the Simply Pop Prebiotic Soda brand to consumers on the West Coast and Southeast in February, just weeks before Pepsi announced its Poppi deal. Executives can share MROE updates on line performance during Cola’s revenue conference call Tuesday morning.
