July 22, 2025 – The Kistler Group is strengthening its strategic orientation in its commitment to sustainability. To integrate sustainability as a core element of its business model, the company has appointed Franziskakunz to a new position as head of global ESG and sustainability. We will also focus closely on sustainable solutions and continue to reduce emissions.
Marc Schaad, CEO of Kistler Group, believes this commitment is essential to generating key advances in innovation and achieving economic success. “As a company, we view sustainability as a responsibility, not as a trend, but as a responsibility both today and in the future generations,” Schaad asserted. “Through our solutions, we will help ensure greater sustainability not only for our own production processes but for our customers.”
Kistler’s two German production sites are already equipped with their own solar power systems, making a visible contribution to reducing green power certificates obtained in Germany, China, Japan, Switzerland, Slovakia and the United States. In 2024, the group achieved overall reductions in ranges 1 and 2 CO2 emissions to below 2,190 metric tons. This corresponds to a 4.6% decline and almost 40% decline compared to 2021, when the sustainability initiative was launched.
Kistler drives global ESG and sustainability strategy
Franziska Kunz assumes the newly created position of global ESG and head of sustainability. As a former production center (Germany), former production center director (Germany), of the former production center Meerane (Germany) and current Sustainability & CSR Manager & CSR Manager, she has 19 years of experience with the company and has extensive expertise on sustainability issues. As she considers the challenges ahead for her, Kunz commented:
Along with many other initiatives, Kistler continues his international enthusiasm to increase the electrical driveability of the group’s fleet. The numbers at Kistler headquarters at Winterthur are currently around 30%. 44 charging points are active on sites in Germany, Switzerland and the US. A pilot project has also been launched to promote the circular economy, with work underway to minimize scope 3 emissions, with a special focus on product usage stages and purchases.
The newly formed inter-departmental team is ready to play that role here. “Our compliance forum brings representatives from the supply chain, purchasing and product development departments to one table,” Kunz explained. “This ensures that we take an international approach based on sustainability standards, as we consider and address the issues we are facing.” She will also oversee the newly created ESG contact points for sustainability issues. It provides additional support to employees and customers with questions about topics such as emissions and recycling options.
Kistler products ensure sustainability across diverse sectors of the industry
Kistler’s measurement solutions play a key role in the production and development of high-quality products. By measuring, monitoring and evaluating relevant parameters in the production process, manufacturers can avoid scrapping, reduce material use and improve overall quality. In these ways, Kistler Solutions paves the way for more resource-efficient production in a diverse range of industrial sectors. Sustainability is also an important factor in the development of new Kistler Solutions. “Our resources and materials are increasingly scarce, so we work with our customers to explore key questions. The new products and business models needed to address these challenges should be established components of product development,” concludes Kunz.
