New research shows that British sympathy over the Palestinian cause and criticism of Israel has skyrocketed.

UNITED STATES, LONDON – Most British people opposed to Israeli war with Gaza have killed more than 55,000 people so far equal genocide, according to a new poll.

A survey conducted by YouGov and commissioned by humanitarian charity litigation and advocacy groups for the Palestinian International Judicial Centre (ICJP) found that 55% of British people oppose Israeli invasion. A significant number of opponents (82%) have a genocide equivalent to Israel’s actions.

“This leads to 45% of British adults who view Israel’s actions as genocide,” said Humanity and the ICJP’s actions.

Details of the polls that responded to 2,010 people in early June were released on Wednesday.

65% said that if the UK visits the UK, it should execute an international criminal court arrest warrant against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

“It’s clear that most people here are tired of Israel’s actions, and the growing numbers agree that this is clearly a genocide,” said Osman Mokbel, head of action for humanity.

He added, except for those who believe that Britain should “stop Israel and do all its power to seek justice against those responsible.”

“The government’s failure to recognize the scale of the crimes it was inflicted on Gaza is to put them on the wrong side of history, as well as on the wrong side of the present.”

Tens of thousands of British people have taken them to the streets over the past 20 months to protest Israel’s war of Gaza.

Prime Minister Kiel Starmer’s government has adopted a harsh tone for Israel in recent weeks, sanctioning high-ranking officials. In 2024, the UK suspended 30 arms export licenses to Israel for use in Gaza amid concerns that Israel violates international humanitarian law.

However, critics lament the pace and strength of the UK’s response, calling for stricter sanctions and measures that would prevent Israel from receiving the UK-made F-35 components.

The survey highlighted the position of the British voted for Labour in the 2024 general election.

Of the 68% of Labour voters who oppose Israel’s actions in Gaza, 87% believe it corresponds to genocide. 78% of Labour voters said the UK should execute an ICC arrest warrant for Netanyahu.

The UK suggests it will comply with ICC warrants.

“The UK government has no contact with the British people they are supposed to represent. The Labour Party has no further contact with its voters,” said Jonathan Purcell of the Palestinian International Judicial Centre.

“While UK policymaking should be based on compliance with the obligations of international law regardless of it, this poll only shows the general level of support for such a policy. There is absolutely no desire to drag our people’s reputation into the mud by standing in a illicit Paria.”
