Ingram Micro says the ongoing outage caused by ransomware attacks

Ingram Micro, a US technology that distributes giants and managed service providers, said on Monday that ransomware attacks are the cause of the ongoing outage.

The hack began on Thursday, and many of the company’s website and its network have since gone down. Late Saturday, the company said in a simple statement that it could start processing orders again as it is working to restore the system.

Ingram Micro on Monday warned shareholders of violations before the market opened in the US.

Based in California, Ingram Micro is one of the world’s largest technology distributors and shipping technologies and hardware to businesses around the world. It is also a managed service provider for customers’ clouds and effectively functions as an outsourcing IT department for small customers.

The outage is reportedly affecting software licensing, preventing Ingram Micro customers from using or provisioning certain products that rely on Ingram systems.

While major ransomware groups still don’t get credibility for the violations, the breeding computers report that the hack was caused by the SafePay Ransomware gang. It is not uncommon for ransomware gangs to name hacked companies and make efforts to make a victim pay the ransom by publishing some of the stolen data.

Ingram Micro spokesman Lisa Zwick did not immediately return a request for comment.
