Instacart On Wednesday, business chief Chris Rogers was appointed as new CEO. This was appointed less than a month after Openai announced CEO Fidji Simo as the new application manager.
The stocks were flat.
Rogers, who joined Instacart in 2019, will begin on August 15th and will be on the board of directors. The company said Shimo will hold the chair’s stand to “smooth the transition.”
“For the past four years, we have transformed Instacart into a major, growing, profitable technology platform that will help us rebuild the grocery industry,” Simo said in the release. “We’re building a generational company at the intersection of technology and food. Chris is the right leader for the next chapter.”
Openai announced this month that it had recruited SIMO to lead its application team and reported directly to CEO Sam Altman. At the time, Altman said in a post that Simo “will focus on enabling the capabilities of the “traditional” company to expand as it enters the next phase of growth.”
She joined the board of AI startups last year.
Shimo helped open the grocery delivery company in 2023. This comes after it became popular as consumers evacuated from home amid the depths of the Covid-19 pandemic.
At the time, Instacart was the first initial technical recruitment for ventures since the end of 2021. We also created a list of CNBC’s 2024 change makers.
“There were a lot of questions about whether Instacart would become just another pandemic outbreak,” Simo told CNBC at the time. “And now we are not only maintaining the interests of our community, but also growing on the interests of the co-fighting, and proven sustainable and profitable. This is really important.”
Before joining Instacart, Rogers worked at Apple for 11 years in a variety of roles, including managing director of the company’s Canadian division. He began his career at a delivery company as Vice President of Global Retail and later moved to the role of Chief Business Officer.
Rogers began his professional career at Procter & Gamble, graduating from Wilfrid Laurier University in Ontario, Canada in 2001 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.
“We have a world-class team, deep partnerships, key technologies and a bold vision for the future. We are honored to present and lead the next chapter of Instacart,” he said.
