McLean, VA – July 14, 2025 – New orders for metalworking machinery measured in the US Manufacturing Technology Orders Report issued by AMT – The Manufacturing Technology Association totaled $392.7 million in May 2025. 2024.

Although manufacturing technology orders fell in March and April, the market continued to show signs of recovery as they surpassed the same month each month in 2025. Looking at the number of units ordered, the data shows much flatter growth. Until May 2025, the number of units ordered was 4.7% higher than the first five months of 2024, which is the highest growth rate since 2021.




Manufacturing technology orders remained relatively strong in April and May 2025. The recently passed tax and expenditure policy package provides some degree of certainty for all businesses, includes significant incentives for manufacturers, and could lead to additional mechanical investments in the second half of 2025.
