summary

July 17, 2025 – Nord Drive Systems was awarded the Ecovadis Gold Medal in 2025, ranked in the top 4% of all globally rated companies, improving 10 points from the previous year. Because its roots are family-owned, drive makers show integrity, reliability and a long-term approach. These values are reflected in sustainability efforts and care that extends to the environment.
Nord scored 85/100 points in the Environment category, achieving the highest individual rating. The assessment was based on measures including renewable energy use, waste heat recovery, energy-efficient production levels, and detailed CO2 E reports according to range 1-3.
Working with ownership and management, the Cross Division CSR team continues to advance the next variety of initiatives on a variety of initiatives covering five key focus areas:
Product: Integrating sustainability measures into the product research and development process. Development of new products that consume energy and reduce CO2 emissions, including Nord’s IE5+ PMS motor technology and Nord Ecobox and Eco Services, which evaluate system performance and provide insights on where efficiency can be achieved. These and other products help customers achieve sustainability goal governance and processes. Establishing an international governance structure and reporting on CSRD compliance for Nord Drives-Systems Group and its 48 subsidiaries. Implementing environmental management standards at our 10 largest subsidiaries is the first step in implementing CSR measures around the world. Environment: coordinate structured measures to reduce energy consumption and waste, increasing the use of renewable energy in self-produced power and node manufacturing processes. Development of international climate strategies and precautions against water pollutants. People: It focuses on inclusion, respect for human rights, strengthening the work culture, and promoting safety and continuing education for employees around the world. Training all employees on sustainability initiatives. Supply Chain: Evaluate manufacturing facilities and upstream supply chains to ensure sustainable production. Monitoring legal requirements to identify risks and minimize environmental impact through efficient manufacturing and transportation processes.
Nord’s focus global areas include reducing energy usage and building infrastructure to switch to green renewable energy sources. The company already has solar (PV) capabilities in its nine subsidiaries, with additional projects being planned. Nord is also establishing new manufacturing procedures to reduce the amount of waste generated, and finding ways to reuse or recycle what remains.
In addition to global projects, Nord is also looking for opportunities to store, reduce and recycle at the local level. In the US, acetone recwriter efficiency has improved by nearly 30% compared to the previous year, allowing us to reduce acetone in 2024. Another notable project is the addition of an upgraded manufacturing execution system (MES) that digitizes most production steps, significantly reducing the amount of paper and toner used.
Large projects have a big impact, but Nord is looking for small ways to make a difference. In the US, EV chargers are installed to support employees and visitors, allowing vehicles to be charged on-site and promote sustainable options. Nord US has installed water filtration systems everywhere to reduce the amount of plastic waste the facility produces. Over 100,000 plastic bottles are stored in the United States each year.
Nord will continue to evaluate manufacturing processes, supply chain operations and business activities, and provide customers with reliable, energy-efficient product options while identifying new ways to save energy.
