Starbucks offers payment to request office employees four days a week

Starbucks Company employees will need to return to the office four days a week starting in October, the company announced Monday.

Starbucks is a letter to employees that says that Starbucks offers a “one-time, voluntary exit program with cash payments,” so for workers who prefer to leave the company rather than return to the office for an additional day.

“I understand that not everyone agrees with this approach,” Nicole wrote in the presentation. “We listened carefully and thought about it. But as a company built on human connections, we believe this is the right path for Starbucks, given the scale of the transformation ahead.”

Under Nicole’s leadership, the coffee chain is trying to reverse the poor sales in the US. His strategy focuses on simplifying the chain’s menu, improving the coffee shop experience, and reducing service time to four minutes per cup.

Starbucks stock fell about 2% in afternoon trading after Merius’ research told investors to sell their shares, citing unproven turnarounds. The company’s shares rose 2% this year, increasing its market capitalization to $108.7 billion.

Turnarounds also affect corporate workers in the company. Two months after Nicole’s tenure, returning in October, Starbucks told workers that if they don’t return to the office three days a week, they risk being fired. In February, the company said it would not fill hundreds of open positions as part of Nicole’s efforts to cut 1,100 jobs and streamline its operations.

Starbucks had around 16,000 employees working outside the store as of last year.

Nicole, a longtime Southern California resident, did not have to move to Starbucks headquarters in Seattle when the company hired him. In his offer letter outlined his terms of employment, the company pledged to establish a small remote office in Newport Beach, California. These days he defaults in-person work in Seattle when he’s not traveling.
