Uber Eats Bring artificial intelligence to your next grocery shopping list.
The ride-hailing company announced Wednesday that its food delivery platform will debut a new AI assistant that allows customers to create shopping carts using text and images, such as handwritten grocery lists.
Uber offers this feature through dozens of major retailers, including Safeway, Albertsons, and Kroger. The company says the tool takes into account product preferences and store availability, and allows users to edit their selections.
“Cart Assistant reflects the way we think about AI at Uber, starting with the actual needs of our customers and building practical solutions within our apps,” Praveen Nepali Naga, head of technology at Uber, said in a release. “By building these features on real user behavior, we can build tools that intuitively feel useful.”
