Xbox president Sarah Bond confirmed Tuesday that her team is working on a new Xbox video game console.
“We are investing in the next generation of hardware lineup of consoles, handhelds, PCs, clouds and accessories,” Bond said in a video posted to X.
The semiconductors that power the new hardware will be created in collaboration with Silicon Valley-based Advanced Micro Devices (AMDs).
“We have established a strategic multi-year partnership with AMD across our entire portfolio of devices, including the next-generation Xbox consoles.”
Earlier this month, Microsoft announced its first Xbox-branded handheld gaming device, promoting its vast library of titles as a way to play anywhere.
The two “Rog Xbox Ally” models, created in partnership with Taiwan-based ASUS, will be available by the end of the year holiday season, Bond said in an online event featuring games heading towards the platform.
Microsoft has committed to disclose details on Xbox Ally pricing and release dates in the coming months.
Both Xbox handhelds looked similar to the Microsoft console controller in terms of buttons, toggles and grip, but looked elongated to provide space for the center screen.
“On Xbox, our vision is to play the game you like with the person you want,” Bond said in the video.
