US President Donald Trump has tied US aid to Netanyahu’s corruption trial on the fiery post of social media sites.

US President Donald Trump launched a severe attack on Israeli prosecutors on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s ongoing corruption trial, calling it “madness,” leading to Washington’s financial support in lawsuits.

Posting on his true social platform on Saturday, Trump struck Israeli authorities to negotiate with Palestinian group Hamas in Gaza and undermine their ability to manage heightened tensions with Iran.

“It’s insane to see out-of-control prosecutors doing what they’re doing to Bibi Netanyahu,” Trump wrote, referring to Israeli leaders under his nickname, claiming his trial would hinder peace efforts in the region.

“The United States spends billions of dollars a year… protecting and supporting Israel. We are not going to support this,” he added.

Netanyahu was scheduled to stand up for cross-examination in a long-term corruption case that began in 2020 on Monday, but on Sunday the Jerusalem District Court said it had accepted the lawyer’s request for a two-week delay, citing Israel’s national security demand following the 12-day dispute with Iran in Israel.

Members of Israeli Knesset accused Netanyahu of using local conflicts to secure an end to his corruption trial.

“[Netanyahu] Namarajmi, a knesset member of the Democratic Party, told the Israeli Times newspaper.

Karine Elharrar, a Knesset member of the Yesh Atid Party, warned that Netanyahu “opposes Israel’s public interest” by linking his legal fate with prisoner negotiations and regional normalization agreements.

ICC Arrest Warrant

Netanyahu’s legal issues include an International Criminal Court arrest warrant issued last year for him and his former defense minister, Yob Gallant.

The accusations include war crimes and crimes against humanity related to Israel’s war of Gaza starting October 2023. Both leaders call the arrest warrant “anti-Semitism.”

Trump’s comments come days after he proposed that a ceasefire deal with Hamas might be near.

Speaking to the reporter, he claimed that Netanyahu was engaged in negotiations with the Palestinian group, but no further details were provided.

Hamas said it would release remaining Israeli prisoners of war in Gaza as part of a deal to end the war, but rejected demands for Israeli disarmament.

Netanyahu responded to Trump’s defense in a post from X. “@RealdonaldTrump.

Netanyahu calls for resignation

The political turmoil in Israel deepened, and Netanyahu called for a new resignation. In a television interview with Channel 12, former Prime Minister Naphtari Bennett said it was time for Netanyahu to come aside.

“He’s been in power for 20 years… that’s too much,” Bennett said. “He has a heavy responsibility for the division of Israeli society.”

Having taken a break from politics, Bennett reportedly has been focused on returns, and the vote suggests he can once again challenge Netanyahu.
